When people know what makes them talented and unique, they can improve their job performance, build stronger relationships and be better teammates.

Strengths-based team development is an approach to team building that focuses on identifying and leveraging the strengths of individual team members to improve overall team performance. This approach emphasizes the positive aspects of team members’ skills and abilities, rather than trying to fix their weaknesses.

Strengths-based team development typically involves assessments, coaching, workshops, and other activities designed to help team members identify their individual strengths and learn how to use them to contribute to the team’s success.

The philosophy behind strengths-based team development is based on the idea that when team members are able to use their strengths to contribute to the team, they are more engaged, motivated, and productive.

This approach can be used at both the leadership team level and with individual managers and their respective teams.

The Power of Strengths

Team members who know each other’s strengths more effectively relate to one another, avoiding potential conflicts and increasing group cohesion. Strengths-based development immediately changes team conversations. It creates more positive dialogue and boosts the team’s overall engagement and performance.

Strengths-based teams communicate using a shared language based on what is good with each person.

Building the best team means knowing how each person thinks about their contribution related to others on the team and combines their strengths with others’ to tackle challenges together.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN BECOMING A “STRENGTHS BASED TEAM”?

  • Team members complete online assessment (Gallup’s CliftonStrengths assessment)
  • Initial individual coaching session with manager and each team member
  • Workshop session/s with entire group
  • Ongoing individual coaching sessions

(PS: A personalized program is developed in consultation with each client according to their needs, aspirations, and budget)

Testimonials

Thank you for our recent journey with you when you took us on your Gallup StrengthsFinder team development programme.

Our team experienced a meaningful benefit, as we discovered our strengths and learnt to integrate them in a team environment, leading us to achieving the best performance possible from both individual team members, as well as a sales team.

The biggest impact this training has had, is to see what we can achieve when we pair up some of the sales reps that’s got different strengths and to see how they complement each other, by using their individual strengths. By doing this it makes it easy for me as a sales manager to connect the dots as they would say. It really helps when you work out sales strategies or even budgets. This was one of the best sessions we have had and it’s really worth it, because what we learnt has really helped us in a practical way. We have also become a more engaged team, working together towards a common goal.

Thanks for all the help!

Thank you so much for spending time with The Success Academy Team during 2016.

The concept of Focusing on Individuals Strengths is extremely powerful.

Firstly everyone enjoys to be informed that they actually do have Strengths……sometimes to their own amazement.

Secondly focusing on these strengths results in amazing results.

Our team is now functioning much better being more aware of  each others strengths.

I would strongly recommend your Course to any Company that wants to go to the next level of performance.

Thank you.

I just want to take this opportunity to send you a quick note to thank you for the time and effort taken to assist me in evaluating my teams strengths and helping us as a business formulate a plan to drive these strengths based skills into tangible outcomes.

I know my team’s initial resistance to the exercise was based on their circumspect around what “the business” would find out about them and hence the initial resistance to working with you, but your patience and impartial demeanour seemed to earn their trust and support through the process which i know couldn’t have been easy.

These things for me usually end after the last play and people forget about it , but we have taken these sessions and applied it to our day to day activities in sales and production and extended it into our KPI’s for existing management, staff and also used it as a framework for our recruitment policies moving forward. It is such a simple thing, and makes me wonder why we didn’t do it before – but having people play to their strengths in the business has shown increased performance and ultimately a happier work force. Pushing people in sales to drive new business when their skills are all based on retention of customers seems daft in hindsight and even though they would convince me they were hunters and assassins before the testing, the results showed they were farmers and exposed their real strengths which we can now leverage. We have restructured the entire sales team into the 3 broad based areas identified for growth , new business , a mix of new and retentions and only retentions which we hope to have the single biggest influencing factor on revenue in the business in the last 21 years – time will tell. It was also clear we lack some support on strategy and execution and knowing who to leverage off in these areas has seen these changes happen without a glitch and that is saying something about a business who has been resistant to change for many years now.

I think the facilitation of the teams and the honest approach to people you brought is what gave this program credibility for us and the non-bias approach to the business is gave us the honest results we needed to work from as a base. Im looking forward to rolling this out over 2017 and will keep you in the loop on some of the wins along the way. I hope to revisit this with the team in June as a refresher and will be in touch accordingly to setup.
